Just when you thought GM had fired its last shot, its European arm of Opel (LHD) and Vauxhall (RHD) have released a high performance version of their midsize Insignia sedan. The Insignia was no slouch to begin with; it’s won the red dot design award, the Top Gear Executive Car of the Year, and European Car of the Year. Now there’s a version of the car for those who like to drive. Canadians will be getting a rebadged (and less attractive) version of the Insignia in the form of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Now we just need to put the pressure on Buick to rebadge the OPC/VXR as well.

All the technical details on this BMW 535xi-beater, as well as a gallery, are after the jump!

The low-down is as follows: 6-speed manual, 2.8L turbocharged V6 making 325 hp and 295 torques, Haldex AWD, and nought to 100 kph in less than 6 seconds. Clearly, these specs are those of pure Fantasia-like fantasy for Canadian drivers. We will never see an American car with these kinds of numbers here. Unless it has an SHO badge, that is.
