To cap off a stunning showing at the 24 Heurs du Mans this weekend, the Peugeot Total team scored a major upset of Audi’s seven-year-reign over the race by finishing 1-2. They were, however, gracious enough to leave Audi third place.

In first place was the Peugeot Total car driven by a few names that should be familiar to F1 fans: David Brabham, Marc Gene, and Alexander Wurz. In second (and down by just one lap due a transmission problem and the necessity early on of a rear axle change) were Sébastien Bourdais, Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny. Audi’s third place drive featured the talents of Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello, and Allan McNish.

Needless to say, Peugeot was overjoyed. Scuderia Toro Rosso would probably be similarly overjoyed if Bourdais managed to drive the car to a similar position at Silverstone next weekend.
