Revealed: 2011 Porsche Boxter Spyder

[UPDATE: The Boxster Spyder acheives its 176lb weight loss by removing the air conditioning, radio, cupholders, and the electric motor for the soft-top and adding aluminum doors. Talk about compromised. Learn more here.]
Porsche just sent out this press release of a new model that has all of the usual improvements. It’s lighter (lightest production Porsche, actually), faster (5.1 0-100kph), and slightly more powerful (10 horsies), but that’s actually not what I care about. The Boxter S is already a fast car with great handling, improving that is cool but I have always hated the styling. Why must the back of a Boxter look exactly like the front? Not any more, the redundantly named Boxter Spyder’s ass and face are not easy to confuse. It’s still a Porsche, and therefore a little stale, but this new Porsche does look nice. It will go on sale in February of 2010 and sell for $61,200 USD ($72,900 CAD as of 6 Nov 2009, $700 more than the standard Boxster S) Hit the jump for the gallery.
