Mazda Confuses Canadians For Californians With Active2 Snow Concept

Mazda is getting ready to launch into the burgeoning B-Class market of small cars with the Mazda2. It will compete with the likes of the Honda Fit and upcoming Ford Fiesta. You might think that it would also compete with the Aveo5, Accent, and Yaris, but you’d be wrong because all three of those cars suck.

To ramp up the excitement for the new little Mazda, the company released a trichotomy of concepts, one of which was the “Active2 Snow”. A wretched and misleading name, I’m sure you’ll agree. The name is misleading because there is no way a Canadian would take that… that thing to the slopes. Now the regular Mazda2 might make it to Jasper, Banff, or Whistler with a proper set of snow tires and sufficiently tall gearing for the highway trek there, but who in their right mind would take a Mazda2 on 17″ wheels with summer tires and a lowered suspension? No one, that’s who. Mazda apparently thought they could pull one over on us Canucks by putting snowboards instead of surfboards on the Active2 “Surf” concept (as seen in the all-green livery) and calling it the “Snow” concept. Hmmm nice try but no. The Active2 Snow was shown this week at the LA Auto Show, which is fine by me because the Californians can keep it.
Oh, and the grey car you see above is a peek at what the Mazdaspeed2 might bring to the table. And it looks like a proper corker. That one, we’ll take.

Yes, the grey one is called the 2Evil. If they kept that name, I'd almost want it just for that. Call me fickle all you like. XD

Being from California, I think I can explain this. Driving up to the ski slopes in California is done on a carefully maintained mountain road. All traces of snow on the road are usually removed by trained professionals so stupid SoCalers don't kill themselves. Then they ski.
