WRC News: Ken Block’s Monster World Rally Team Joining Fray from 2010!
Fri, Jan 8, 2010
Ah, Ken Block. Is there anything you can’t do?
Apparently not. Follow the jump for more.
The ridiculously talented (and utterly mad) American rally driver Ken Block will be competing in the World Rally Championship with his newly-formed Monster Energy World Rally Team (backed by Ford) for 2010 and 2011. In so doing, he will make history yet again without even touching his shifter—he’s now the first American in the entire 38-year history of the sport to compete.
Block will be competing in a Focus RS WRC kitted and prepped by M-Sport. DC Shoes will also sponsor the team (big shock there), as well as Dirt2 (another big shock, seriously). No word yet as to his co-driver, nor as to any potential teammates. Former Subaru World Rally Team member and Block friend Chris Atkinson’s name has been mentioned, but no definite announcements have yet been made.
Lest you think this means that Block is going to step down from his other rallying obligations, fear not. He will continue to make appearances in Rally America, and also in the X-Games. No official word on when Block will sleep has yet been given.

"he’s now the first American in the entire 38-year history of the sport to compete."
WRONG.
If you actually KNEW anything about rallying, you'd know that John Buffum was
competing decades before Ken Block even thought of selling sneakers.
As far as John Buffam goes, he's never raced in WRC to my knowledge either. It seems that he raced almost exclusively in the USA. Care to share a link to proof otherwise?
In WRC? Rallying, yes, but I was speaking of one particular series, not of the sport in general.
Excellent to see that the anonymity of the interwebs continues to encourage civil discussion and lack of the need to resort to questioning the intelligence of other people by way of introducing oneself. Bravo!
