Chicago Auto Show 2011: Hyundai Veloster Rallycross

Hyundai Veloster Rallycross with Rhys Millen

If this isn’t worthy of the “Velosteraptor” moniker, I don’t know what is.

The official announcement came at CAS 2011 that Rhys Millen Racing will be using the Hyundai Veloster for the 2011 U.S. Rallycross Championship. Millen, Robbie Maddison, and Marcus Dodd will pilot two of the cars through the series. A third will feature a rotating series of celeb drivers. Millen and Maddison will also take their rally-prepped Velosters to this year’s X Games.

The rally version is 500hp and makes 600 lb-ft of torque, thanks to Hyundai’s 2-litre four-cylinder engine and a little help from an HKS ball-bearing turbocharger. You may kindly pick your jaw up off the floor now.

I hear this is coming to Europe later in the year but the i40 is due anytime now. This looks pretty cool and I can see it giving the Ford a run for its money . Recently stumble on this youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwqKy07OhXI) about the reveal.

Apparently, users can connect through Facebook to directly participate in the live light reveal. You can create your own personal light reveal via a live video feed. The official site for the launch is http://www.hyundai-i40.eu/

Really looking forward to seeing this at the Geneva Motor Show.By the way great site. Very informative
