Globe and Mail’s Joys of Vehicular Sex
The Globe and Mail has just posted up their Valentine’s Guide to Vehicular Sex, presumably in time for ardent readers to rush out and get themselves one of their listed vehicles in time for VD…uh, Valentine’s Day.
This article also mentions a certain documentary about mechaphiles who do, indeed, have sex with their cars, not just in them. It’s called Strangelove: My Car Is My Lover.
As I discovered after viewing this documentary for myself awhile back, some intrepid soul put it up on YouTube in its entirety. Simply look at this user’s other videos and follow the links to view the whole thing in its entirety. You know, if you like. Auto-eroticism as you may not have considered it previously. There was that lady who married the Eiffel Tower awhile back…
Well, you do know what they say, right? Isn’t that one word something about being “for unlawful car knowledge?”

Mini In A Winter Wonderland
Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and first produced 51 years ago, the Mini was a revolutionary front-engined front-driver that maximized occupant capacity like no car before it.
Throw some maple syrup on there and you’ve got yourself a Cabane à Sucre.

Travis Pastrana’s New World Record
On New Year’s Eve, at Red Bull’s 2010 New Year No Limits show, Travis Pastrana successfully jumped his Subaru WRX STI an astonishing 269 feet, from a pier on Long Beach to a barge waiting in the harbour. This beat out Ken Block’s previous 2006 world record by almost a full 100 feet! Watch the video for professional hoonage at its finest. At the very least, watch the first 40 seconds.

If the poster artists of the 1930’s painted today, the 2009 Monaco GP poster might have looked something like this.

For Sale: 1988 BMW M6

Just look at the size of that greenhouse! You could fit Rita McNeil through that window!
Uninterested in the 500 hp 5.0L V10 underhood of the current E63 BMW M6? Think that the current model is too bloated, too complex, and too expensive? Me too, me two, and me three. Thankfully, in the late 80’s BMW’s M division had their Bavarian mitts in more than just the E30 M3 (with its pitiful little four-pot), they also produced the E24 M6 for those looking for a more stately and refined BMW coupe experience. Powered by the M88 3.5L inline-6 from the M1, the M6 made 256 hp in North America, a full thirty less than the Euro models on account of the castrating catalytic converter. Still, this was enough oomph to make the M6 one of the 10 fastest cars in North America at the time with a 0-60 mph of just over 6 seconds.
The lines of the E24 embody the classic “shark nose” philosophy of being more aggressive and purposeful than Mercedes, a design element that BMW’s current design director Adrian Van Hooydonk is currently re-imagining, starting with the F01 7-series and continuing with the F10 5-series.
