The Next Pagani: Codename “C9″
The Pagani Zonda isn’t the most common of Italian-Argentian-Germanic supercars. In fact, over the last decade of production, only about 100 units have made it into the hands of wealthy connoisseurs. That only works out to about 10 cars per year. Still, it is one of the most exciting and talked about exotics on the road because of its stunning attention to detail, huge pricetag, magnanimous 7.3L Mercedes V12, and a sprinkling of entomological magic.
Now, Evo UK’s Harry Metcalfe has the inside scoop on the Zonda’s replacement, internally known as the C9. His 6 nuggets of knowledge are below. Read the rest of this entry »

Porsche Spreads Legs for 2012

Porsche zealots aren’t gonna like this bit of news. Not one bit. Autocar UK is reporting that over the next 3-4 years, Porsche is going to introduce a host of new engines and new models. Looks like the Panamera four-door is just the beginning of a product diversification so broad that even BMW would be proud.
Follow the jump to take a peek up the skirt of the Stuttgart whore. Read the rest of this entry »

The Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 is taking place as we speak. Unfortunately, our German correspondent isn’t feeling well so she couldn’t make it herself. As such, we’ve compiled a list of the most important reveals from Day 1 in her absence. Frankfurt is the first major show of the Fall season and manufacturers like Audi, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maserati, VW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW, and Mercedes have pulled out all the stops. Rhys Millen + Genesis Coupe = Mid-Engined V8 Insanity
With SEMA coming up in Las Vegas, Hyundai is keen to show off how hip and cool it is. Here’s an excerpt from Hyundai’s internal monologue: “See? Look! I can make an affordable RWD car! See? Look! I can make a mid-engined car! Aren’t I just the best?” What’s next, a Hyundai in The Fast and The Furious 5?
Kind of a cute idea, I suppose, this mid-engined thing. But it’s also completely batshit crazy. When every other manufacturer in the world is tripping over themselves to either a) design a better Camry (ahem, GM and Ford), or b) invent new niches of the market for people who don’t want Camries (ahem Venza, 5-Series GT), Hyundai is doing what everyone else is scared to. That is, build good cars that are affordable for enthusiasts like us. The Genesis Coupe is a steal of a deal because it offers enthusiast appeal and tunability at a price that GTI’s, Evo’s, and S2000’s can’t touch.
But back to the mid-engined part. Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) is doing the job in advance of SEMA. They’re taking the 4.6L V8 from the Genesis sedan, and lightly modding it to around 450hp from the stock 375. The gearbox will be a five-speed sequential unit. Follow below for a ten pic gallery of the RMR insanity.

Leaked: Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing

Just in case you missed this on every other car blog in the world, here are the images you’ve been waiting for of the Mercedes SLS AMG, as leaked by CarPoint. It’s a vehicle we’ve covered before here at the Nurburgring, here on the cover of some German magazine, of the interior here, and donning camo here. So the details shouldn’t be a surprise, but the look of the front end sure is.
The rest of the gallery is below.

Video and Gallery: Ferrari 458 Italia on the Road
Here’s an amateur video of a camouflaged 458 Italia doing a little test driving near Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello. Sadly, the driver never really puts his foot down for us, but we do get to see a very jealous looking Lambo. Without the camo, it really is an organic looking car, as if it drives out of a giant Italian woman’s womb rather than a factory. Some more photos of this gorgeous vehicle, just for good measure, after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Teaser: New Grand Bentley (Arnage Replacement)

The Bentley Arnage has been around for a full decade now, which is plenty long enough in today’s rapidly changing market. So the crew from Crewe has decided that’s 10 years is long enough and that it’s time for a change. Personally, I think that the Arnage is still one of the quintessential luxury sedans. If you see someone getting out of the back seat of an Arnage, you know they’re the real deal. To me, the Conti GT stinks of brash, flash, new money, and it therefore doesn’t garner the same kind of respect.
Here is the first teaser pic of the Arnage replacement, currently known as the Grand Bentley. Clearly, Bentley isn’t giving much away other than a big Flying B and squared off dimensions. Radical, I know.
Stay tuned for more as the inevitable leaks, errr, leak.
In real news, as predicted Fiat now owns a chunk of Chrysler and the joint company has exited US bankruptcy protection with Sergio Marchionne as CEO.

Ferrari F450: The Next Generation

Unlike CTV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation, Ferrari’s follow-up to the F430 is expected to be good, if not completely sublime. Power is rumoured to come from a 4.5L (thus the name, duh) V8 with around 500 hp and a redline approaching Formula 1 levels. Read the rest of this entry »

Teaser: 2010 Jaguar XJ

Set to be in showrooms in December of this year, the next-generation Jaguar XJ is long overdue. If I’m not mistaken, I think that the last XJ was built during the reign of the third Roman Emperor, Caligula. So it’s been a while.
