While the US Big Three are scrambling for survival just to the south of us, it seems Canadians have set their sights elsewhere when it comes to automotive love. According to March sales figures, our constant headline-hogging buddies called Chrysler are near the bottom. But who’s on top?
You know the drill by now. Follow the jump for more.

Feast your eyes on this, kiddies: it’s Marcus Gronholm’s ride for the 2009 Portugal WRC event, and it’s a ProDrive Impreza WRC2008.
Yes, you read all that correctly, and no, I haven’t lost my mind.

When we think of Japanese-style drifting, the F&F series has trained our Pavlovian response to drool over Nissan Zed cars, Lancer Evos, and souped-up Subies. Clearly, the image of going sideways through tight, mountain hairpins is ingrained in our minds and the minds of young Takahashi- and Tsuchiya-wannabes everywhere. The image is usually accompanied by Japanese, or even German metal. But American metal? Never. So what is a 2010 Ford Mustang doing in Japan among all these drift kings? Yes, you read correctly. This baby is the brainchild of one Ken Brough, an apparently completely mad 50-year-old supergenius who hails from New Zealand. It’s got a ’90s STi engine, a five-speed gearbox, and a clutch assembly from an old 1.8L Subie Leone. Regrettably, despite all efforts to the contrary, Mr. Brough wasn’t able to convince the authorities to make his baby street-legal. Pity.
(If you’re Mr. Brough, and you happen to be reading this, I’d like to assure you that I mean “completely mad” in a good way.

Yes, I know. The Lancer Sportback Ralliart isn’t intended to be in direct competition with the Legacy. You don’t have to tell me.
But I’m fairly certain my eyes still haven’t fully recovered from the horror of the Subaru Legacy Concept, although looking at the gorgeous rear end of the 2010 Mitsu Lancer Sportback Ralliart does help a fair bit.
